Ah, summer! My favorite time of the year is finally here. My parents were both teachers so summer meant a collective sigh of school being over and time to go camping, work in the yard (read, play in the sprinklers for us girls), and lots and lots of art projects. Not to mention one of my sisters and I have June birthdays—whoohoo!
Now as an adult, I’ve found that if I don’t make some sort of a summer bucket list, the weekends fly by so quickly we’re suddenly in September and realizing we only went over to the coast one time. Oops. If you’re new to this concept, read on! :)
How to Make a Summer Bucket List
—Draw a bucket list on a piece of paper. (A list will work too!)
—Think of some of the things you’d like to do this summer. Brainstorm on a separate sheet of paper if you’d like. Then write them in the spaces on the printable (the rays of the sun are the spaces.)
—Have fun, write in different colors, and maybe even leave a few spaces open for surprise adventures.
—Your bucket list items don’t have to be ah-mazing and off the charts like going to Italy or white-water rafting. You’ll be more likely to doing many of the things on your list if there’s a range of super-easy things to do as well. Some ideas could be:
- Visit the farmer’s market and buy one piece of summer fruit. Oh, how I love peaches, plums, nectarines, et al!
- Host a BBQ.
- Draw a tiny sketch every day for 30 days.
- Go on a walk, and take pictures.
- Go on a creative retreat. :)
- Check out the free events in town, and go to one.
—Make sure you don’t make your bucket list into a colossal and overwhelming To-Do list. This is supposed to be fun!
This summer is going to be BUSY for my husband and I as we are getting ready to launch a super exciting project into the world at the end of July. But we’re going to take some time to write out our summer bucket list too because we love going on little adventures as a family!
