This Was January - my monthly look-back post. Would you like to join me? @littlegirldesigns.com

This Was January

When I was thinking about what I’d like to do on the Little Girl Designs blog this year, I thought it’d be fun to do a monthly recap, something I did long ago on my old blog (may it rest in peace.) So here are some pictures and memories and thoughts from January. (I’m still in shock that January is over.)

~January was pretty mild (weather-wise) here in Oregon. Of course, we had plenty of rain but the moss is as green as ever and everywhere I look, daffodils and crocus are pushing their way up through the soil. We even saw a camilia bush in full bloom last weekend. It reminded me of all of our walks in the Descanso Gardens where they have a mini-camilia forest. It is so beautiful and magical and walk down those paths.

~One of my sisters came for a visit this month which was so fun. We made peppermint bark brownies, which I’ll be posting in a couple of weeks. They were sooo good.

~My sister came the weekend before we launched our Etsy shop for My Little Girl Designs so it was a little wild. I know in a world where everyone opens an Etsy shop it seems like hardly anything to be overly excited about, but it really has taken a lot of work. I have so many ideas for that shop and am slowly but surely chipping away at new sketches. My daughter and I have had fun drawing together (i.e. I let her scribble on the sketches that are not Etsy-worthy. ;))

~We have now entered into the world of imaginative play. Our daughter received a set of four tiny plastic princesses for Christmas and all through the day I hear the princesses sipping tea, giggling as they chase each other, and my favorite, counting on the abacus. I am loving this.

~I feel like I need to apologize for being so behind on Valentine’s Day this year. I do have several posts and ideas for Valentine’s week and thought that would be so fun to share with you. But apparently, I was supposed to start sharing Valentine’s Day tutorials on January 2nd. Oops! I will have some things to share with you starting next week and hope that you won’t not be tired of red and pink by then! 😉

~My post, How to Give Generously When You Don’t Have a Dime completely blew me out of the water in terms of your response. I know I keep on saying that but really, it did. So much so that I decided to write a mini eBook that is available for $1.00 in my shop. It includes over 30 ideas of how to give generously and come up with gifts that are meaningful even if you don’t have a lot of money at the moment.

As I was getting ready to publish this post (I tend to write posts ahead of time, adding bits here and there until I’m finished), I came across Emily Freeman’s monthly link up called “What We Learned…” so I’m going to be linking to that today. It just seemed to perfectly match up with what I want to do here so there you go. I highly recommend going over to her blog and seeing what she’s been up to–she is a wonderful writer and I think you would really appreciate what she has to say about life and creativity.

Have a great weekend!
