Welcome to the third week of my Summer Crafting series. Every Friday for the next 7 weeks, I’ll be sharing easy crafts you can make over the weekend. Be sure to check back each week for new projects!
When I think about summer, one of the first things that comes to mind is the fruit. Peaches. Apricots. Plums. Nectarines. Strawberries. Blackberries. Watermelon. All through the warm summer months, I make strawberry freezer jam, and flash freeze delicious stone fruit and berries.
There is just nothing like a berry cobbler in the middle of winter. Mmm . . . This year it has been particularly warm in the Pacific Northwest and I noticed the blackberries are already ripening. (Usually we don’t go blackberry picking until August!) I’m keeping my eye on my favorite blackberry bramble along one of our walks; I’ll definitely be packing some Ziploc bags one of these mornings and filling them up. 🙂
Earlier this summer, I decided to make a watermelon tote bag, and had so much fun making it, I decided to use the same technique to make a watermelon note card. So, here’s the tutorial:
Make a Watermelon Note Card
You will need:
Dark pink paint
Black gel pen
Paint brush (a small, narrow brush works best)
Water
Plain white note card
First, paint a half circle shape using the pink paint. For my card, I painted four watermelons for the first row, three for the second row, and repeated this pattern. Be sure to work from left to right so you won’t smear the paint. Let the paint dry completely.
Now take your black gel pen and draw three small watermelon seeds (as seen above.) Carefully draw a half circle below the pink paint. Do this for each of the watermelon slices until you’re finished.
Isn’t that the cutest? I think I might need to decorate a little kid’s t-shirt with this motive for my daughter before the summer is over. She loves summer fruit as much as her mommy does!
What is your favorite summer fruit?
Hope you have a wonderful {and creative} day!

I love how simple and cute that is! I struggle with sticking to simple cards. I always feel like I have to add something, but obviously that’s not always the case!
Thanks so much, Maggie! 🙂
You know why I love this project? Because I can do it! So cute, so summery, and I could even let my little girl help me make these. Thanks so much for this fun little project. I sure hope I get to it this weekend.
Yay! I’m all about simple projects. 🙂 Hope you have fun with it!

These could not possibly be cuter! I’m loving all things watermelon right now!
Thanks, Megan! I’m loving watermelon motives too–must be because of summer. 🙂 🙂
